July is behind us, time to check in on my portfolio.
In my latest post I updated my progress towards my H1 goals - concluding I was 4 for 5.
In this new post I continue my regular monthly updates and report on what happened to my portfolio during the prior month.
In July I made three dividend growth stock purchases.
On July 13 I bought 150 shares of Ford Motor Company for a total of $1,721.
And on July 14 I bought 30 shares of Williams-Sonoma for a total of $1,371.
On the last day of the month I also added to my existing Starbucks (SBUX) position. The company posted decent numbers last week - however, the price dropped by about 10%.
I already liked Starbucks for their strong dividend growth and am happy to take a 10% discount on this great company.
With their strong digital channel and loyalty program roll out and their continued push into China I am confident Starbucks continues to do well.
I keep building my snowball and with each new stock purchase I increase my forward dividend income and get closer to achieving my investment goals.
So how did I progress in July?
For reasons of comparison: a year ago, at the end of July 2016, my portfolio consisted of 29 positions with a total value of $40,501.
At the end of July 2017 my portfolio consisted of 45 positions with a total market value of $91,556 - a Year-on-Year (YoY) increase of 126%.
This YoY increase is shown in the graph below.

Awesome annual increase in your portfolio value. Keep pushing and it won’t be long until you’re blogging about your $1MM portfolio!
Thank you! Love the optimism, but 1 M is still a little out haha.
Meanwhile, I just keep rolling that snowball!
Thanks for stopping by.
That YoY% growth is amazing! Would be awesome to keep that pace going. Double your portfolio every year. Just keep rolling that snowball. Great recent buys as well. Adds a lot more dividend income for sure.
DD,
Yes – I certainly hope I can keep the pace going, at least for contributions. With regards to capital appreciation I am rooting for some lower prices and better entry points!
My Dividend Income Post for July will be up Wednesday.
Cheers
