It’s time for my favorite type of post: a tally of the dividends I received in the prior month.
Given my strategy of DGI, it is really the dividend payouts that I care about. For each of the companies I invest in, I like to see a steady and growing stream of dividend payouts.
So how did I do in August?
Last month 14 companies sent me a dividend payout, adding up to a total of $399.
Happy to receive close to $400 in an ‘off month’ - and a very nice close of Q3 (chart below). The dividends paid out into my investment account have definitely picked up steam over these past three quarters.
With my goal of $5000 in received dividends for the year, each quarter should even out to $1250. While that is unlikely to happen (unlike Q4 will be an absolute monster!), still good to see consistent growth each quarter this year.
The following table shows the tickers of the companies that made a August 2018 dividend payout to my portfolio. The table features the dividend amount I received and any change in payout as compared to the last pay-out moment.
Ticker | Dividends Received | Dividend per Share Change |
---|---|---|
VZ | $44.25 | |
T | $75.00 | |
CVS | $30.00 | |
STAG | $5.92 | |
OHI | $66.00 | |
ABBV | $38.40 | |
DAL | $35.00 | 14.75% |
ETN | $9.90 | |
CAT | $12.90 | 10.26% |
WSM | $12.90 | |
SBUX | $36.00 | 20.00% |
SPG | $20.00 | 2.56% |
SBRA | $1.80 | |
CLDT | $11.00 | |
TOTAL | 399.07 |
The fact that 14 companies sent me dividend checks is great in and of itself, and there are some decent dividend raises to report.
Delta Airlines is continuing it’s impressive dividend growth streak with yet another double digit raise - $14.75%.
Caterpillar, after years of virtually no growth, is back in the habit of boosting their payout again with a nice $10.26%.
Starbucks - a recent purchase - served up another 20% dividend raise, while Simon Property Group kept it more modest with $2.56.
Comparing the dividend payout of August 2017 to August 2018 shows an increase of $257 to $399- a Year-on-Year (YoY) growth of 55%.
This YoY growth is featured in the table below.

Heya Tall Investing. Nice results! That’s a nice amount to receive in an off month. And that Starbucks raise definitely was nice, wasn’t it? 🙂 I bought some SBUX as well.

Stashing Dutchman – thanks, and yes, great raises pretty much across the board. The SBUX raise was another one in a long streak of double digits raises. I am confident that, although there are challenges, the company will be great for shareholders in the years to come.
You selected your shares well, the increases and growth is really moving forward as clockwork. Very well done my Tall friend.
Team CF – thank you. Now on to September!
Good job. I just added Sbux in time for the dividend. Nice YOY. We share 3 companies this month T Sbux and OHI. Just shy of 400 stinks but you will get there next time. Keep it up.
Dividendandhobbies - SBUX, T and OHI are all great dividend payers. Not too worried about not making 400 this month, September will be better!
Thanks for stopping by!
Great job this month Tall Investing. Even though you are a dollar short of $400 here, the results were excellent! I loved the dividend increases and the impact they had this month. Keep chugging along my friend.
Bert
Thanks Bert! A dollar short indeed… but 55% up compared to last year 🙂 I’ll keep chugging along, and also need to read up on your latest buy over at DD.
